The streets of Douvres-la-Délivrande were lined with smiles, flags and plenty of colour. Last morning, no setting up camp outside of our base, something a little different for the way home.
Bikes, motorbikes, jeeps, cars, American trucks and a CMP paraded the streets to the joy of everyone there. Major General Martin stood, torso above the hatch, waving back at all the crowds, lapping up the attention.
I have no idea how many phones and cameras we now reside, but there's no doubt, we won't be forgotten for a while longer.
