So, as many a reader will know, we are here in a 1943 Canadian Military Pattern truck. It's fun, it's ugly, it's beautiful, it's rugged, it's slow, it pleases and frustrates in equal measure. Heads turn, gears miss, cars are desperate to pass, bystanders are keen to wave. For me, it's ( almost ) everything this holiday has to give in terms of pleasure, along with the 1940s kit. The radios smell, they get hot, they falter and they refuse to work properly. Much as the CMP.
Here are some pics just of the CMP. It's pedal layout is clear. It's heavy steering not. Its usefulness stands out, it's crash gearbox hidden to all bar the occupants. 4 speed. 4th if you're lucky.
